When girls are doing contortion, one character can always be shown: vulnerability. They are soft, easily bent, tender, harmless, obedient.

By showing their own vulnerability, girls doing contortion may show their full trust on spectators, especially when there is only one spectator, just like a kitty turning its belly up and let a man to caress. So when girls do contortion to man, man can fully understand the trust from the girl. Also, anyone knows stretching is painful, from this, man can know that he can be the dominant part (which is always good), the girl is willing to do anything to pleasure the man, even though something really hurts. Talking about "dominance and pleasure", sex is always brought up, then comes the sex fantasy on contortionists, after all few people can really get the fantasy real, sad.

Thus, contortionism can dig up mysterious combination of feelings, first one is full protection——because the girl is so vulnerable, second one is intimacy——from the trust, intimacy between two genders always leads to sex, third one is dominance——the man can be the dominant part in sex, and the girl is wiling to obey. all three feelings are derivative, protection->intimacy->dominance. i think that's what contortionism really brings to us.

All these feelings come from vulnerability, end at the fantasy of sex, that's why watching contortion pictures or videos, or reading contortion novels are such a private and untalkable habbit. Enjoy.

some thoughts occured while reading

Greetings. Not sure if you are the guy I know from Instagram or not, if you are, I am a big fan of your posts (few of them are spectacular, I never saw them anywhere else). Also, if you are the guy, I am pretty confident that you know how to write in Chinese, not sure why you chose English but, fine, if that`s what you want.

Sure, some of your points may be approved by some audience, people who are not familiar with contortion, or as you call them—spectators. I would not be surprised because I know a lot of people, usually the ones who have not found their life purpose yet. Their mind is filled with leud and lust. All they want is snap satisfaction to empty their mind from heavy workload or just a getaway from the tough reality. I would not criticize them because not everyone was born with a glorious purpose, but we both know that it is not a positive way of thinking. Let me try to explain all those phenomena from another point of view.

My aunt and uncle run a small circus when I was very young, and then that circus dismissed for there are less and less people would actually buy a ticket and go to the big top to see a performance. Furthermore, both my cousins (also trained to be acrobats) are going to school for that my aunt knows well that show biz was never a good trade to enter, especially when you are acrobats. I grew up seeing shows behind the stage and know some contortionists, so I feel offended every time when people try to link contortion to sex. Not only for my relatives and friends, but also for disgracing an art form.

(Note that I might quote some of professional opinions, but it will be mainly my personal thoughts. )

Firstly, if you know a contortionist, especially Chinese and Mongolian contortionists you will know that even though they look so supple, their strength is far superior to average people, especially when they are bases of mutli-performer routines. According to research①, there are roughly 10% of population that they can perform a handstand. However, handstand is basically mandatory to contortionists before they can ever go on a stage. In order to do a handstand, you need both arm and core strength. Not to mention that as a base in mutli-performer routines, sometimes you need to a handstand with other acrobats above your body. BTW, I developed a theory by studying contortionists who still perform after 40. That a lot of injures and occupational diseases can be reduced by training all the related muscles consistently. It grants you more muscle and strength to protect yourself but that is off the topic. So for people who know contortion enough, you will know that contortionists are flexible but that does not make them WEAK.

Secondly, just because there are few assisted stretches does not mean they are automatically willing to do anything to please others. When I talk with contortionist, especially who willing started training. One word has been brought up very frequently –- determination. Like you said, “anyone knows stretching is painful” (well, at least to some points, eventually yes). Thus, one cannot make it till the end without dedication and determined mind. Even though some contortionists are actually monitored by parents and coaches, they gain willpower while struggling. Therefore, contortionists are not WEAK in mind either.

Thirdly, just because the clothing they wear and the poses they make SEEMS like there are intimacy involved, does not make it mentionable in public. I know that a lot of contortion acts would intentionally make sex-implications. But those are all in the club or on some 18+websites. I personally never saw that kind of performance on stage or in the streets. So, my opinion to the people who thinks contortion = sex is the same, you can think about it, nobody would check your mind; you can discuss it privately with other fans, just like we are doing right now (just be prepared some fans are still offended by that); but you should never say this in public and pretend everyone thinks the same. It is disgrace to the art and it is unfair to the contortionists who are never involved in any kind of sexual implications on stage. SO, just because some of them are compromised, does not make the whole contortionist community sex related.

In conclusion, most of the contortionists are strong both physically and mentally. I would not deny that some people watch contortion to see skin exposure and body curves, but that does not mean it was the way it should be. I personally admire contortionists because they are very determined and they can perform all kinds of routines that I am not able to.
